Local up-and-coming artist Chris Chism is the Contemporary Music Director at Cathedral of Hope. Chris is a talented singer/songwriter, who has a natural way of crossing cultural and generational barriers to reach people through his music. Chris has performed for audiences around country and has made musical appearances with Yolanda Adams, at the nation’s capital for the National Global Peace Festival. Over the last few years, he has used his gospel upbringing, along with his own personal life experiences, to compose and perform uplifting and inspirational music, such as his popular “Don’t Stay There.” The single “Don't Stay There” was released April 30th in a concert with national recognized YouTube sensation, Steve Grand. In his words, “The deeply personal song, especially the second verse addresses issues such as insecurity and depression. Issues that everyone can relate to on some level.” The song also alludes to addiction, apathy, and even touches on suicide with the lyric “Don’t Cheat us out of the ending.” Chris is set to release the music video for “Don’t Stay There” by November 1st, and has recently finished his second single "Deadbolt", set to release this Winter.
